  • The Union HRD Ministry has decided to appoint the former cabinet secretary of India, TSR Subramaniam as the chairman of the committee which will devise the new education policy for the country
  • The committee is expected to suggest ways on how to carry forward the education sector of the country
  • The committee has been asked to submit report by December 31, 2015

India and Indonesia Sign two Agreements

  • India and Indonesia have signed two agreements today as the Indian vice President Hamid Ansari is on a visit to the country
  • The agreements have been signed in the field of renewable energy and cultural associations between the countries
  • The countries have also discussed the possibilities of collaboration in the fields of defence production and terrorism monitoring and eradication

India to set up a South Asian Regional Cooperation Centre for Financial Matters

  • With an eye to reduce the amount of illegal cash flow in the region, India has decided to take the plunge to set up South Asian Regional Intelligence Coordination Centre
  • The organization will be set up with members in the region such as Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Maldives besides India
  • The centre will be open for inclusion to the other countries once it becomes operational and the founding members decide to induct new members

AK Jha is the new Chairman of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited

  • Anil Kumar Jha has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited which is a subsidiary of Coal India
  • The officer has experience in the mining and mineral sector of over 32 years as he has been instrumental in MOIL as the Director (Production)

Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Founder of Hero Motocorp, is no more

  • One of the leading figures of the two-wheeler revolution in India, the founding member of the Hero Motocorp, Brijmohan Lall Mumjal is no more as he passed away in Mumbai at an age of 92
  • He retired from active role earlier this year and was serving as the non-executive chairman on the board of the $4 billion company

MTS India merged with Reliance Communications

  • In a landmark deal, Sistema Shyam Teleservices Limited (SSTL) of Russia has merged its MTS India brand with Reliance Communications Limited which will be the major shareholder in the company now
  • The deal has been valued at around 4500-5000 crore and is an all-cash deal
  • The deal will be beneficial for RCom as the deal will bring 9 million new subscribers to the company along with a revenue base of Rs 1500 crore. The Russian company is poised to hold 10% equity in the venture

Ruling Justice and Development Party wins Elections in Turkey

  • In the Parliamentary elections of Turkey, the ruling Justice and Development Party founded by the present President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has secured a total of 316 seats out of 550 seats in the Parliamentary elections of the country
  • The opposition Republic People’s Party has been able to bag 134 seats in the assembly

Delhi Metro gets ISO Tag

  • The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has earned itself the distinction of being the first metro in the country to be honoured with the Prestigious International Standardization Organization (ISO) tag
  • The honour has been bestowed on the metro for the effective energy management practices in the Metro

Odisha bans Fishing to Protect Turtles

  • In order to protect the endangered species of the Olive Ridley Turtles, the Odisha government has decided to ban fishing off the coast area of the state under the Odisha Marine Fishing Act
  • The ban has come into effect on November 1 and will be in force till 31st May 2016 as the turtles come to the coast off Odisha for nesting purposes during this 7 month period

Prosperity Index 2015 Released

  • British Think Tank Legatrum Institute has published the 2015 edition of the World Prosperity Index
  • The index has been topped by Norway in the global level whereas in the Asian continent, Singapore has topped in the index

Agniezska Radwanska is the WTA Singles Champion

  • In the singles event of the WTA Open in Singapore, Poland’s Agniezska Radwanska has emerged victorious in 02nd NOVEMBER 2015 CURRENT AFFAIRSthe finals
  • She defeated the Czech compatriot Petra Kvitova in the finals to lift the prestigious trophy
